ABOUT THE PROJECT

About the Project

H.E.R.I.T.A.G.E. (Environmental Education through Museums and Interdisciplinary Learning) is an Erasmus+ initiative aimed at transforming museums into dynamic and interactive learning spaces for adult education. Our project integrates museum education with sustainability, addressing the core question: "Can museums cultivate generations equipped with sustainable and green skills?"

          Objectives

The primary goal of our project is to promote lifelong learning and environmental awareness by transforming museums into active spaces for climate action. In this context, our specific objectives are:

  • Digital Learning Platform: To develop and implement an interactive e-learning platform featuring museum-based climate education.

  • Innovative Technologies: To enhance visitor engagement and support interactive sustainability education by integrating AR (Augmented Reality), VR (Virtual Reality), and AI (Artificial Intelligence) into museum exhibitions.

  • Educator Training: To provide structured training on digital and experiential teaching methods for at least 50 museum educators and adult education facilitators.

  • Collaboration and Impact: To organize local events reaching over 1,000 participants and involve policymakers by establishing joint programs between museums and environmental organizations.

          Key Activities

To achieve our project goals, we operate under four main work packages:

  1. Project Management and Coordination (WP1): Covers the healthy execution of the project, communication between partners, and quality control processes.

  2. Training and Engagement (WP2): A 5-day training in Greece for museum professionals and a 3-day conference in Italy will be organized to share best practices.

  3. Toolkit and Educational Material Development (WP3): A "Digital Innovation Handbook," a "Strategic Framework," and an AI-powered e-learning platform will be created for museum educators.

  4. Dissemination and Sustainability (WP4): Aimed at reaching a wide audience through Green Museum Open Days, digital storytelling workshops, and policy roundtable meetings.

          Expected Results

  • Improvement of participants' skills in digital learning and non-formal environmental education.

  • Establishment of strong ties between museums, NGOs, and educational institutions.

  • Creation of open-access educational resources and toolkits that bridge cultural heritage with climate action.

  • Increase in intergenerational knowledge transfer and social environmental awareness.
